Mid-Year Review

The mid-year review (MYR) is an opportunity for the manager and employee to discuss progress and success in achieving work objectives. It is also a time for performance expectations to be adjusted if they have changed according to priorities and context.

Changes may be made to the Performance Agreement (PA) during the mid-year review or at any point during the performance cycle. If applicable, Section B (work objectives) and Section D (learning plan) should be updated to reflect changes to commitments and/or learning.

Open and honest two-way communication, active listening, constructive feedback, mutual respect and a willingness to learn are essential in making discussions about performance a positive, worthwhile experience.

There is information available to help you get started, here at ESDC and on TBS’s Performance Management Program website.

In order to alleviate the responsibility on managers and employees of managing the vaccination attestation and performance management's mid-year review exercises during the same timeframe, the deadline for the mid-year review discussions to be completed for non-executive employees and for performance agreements (PAs) to be finalized and signed in the Public Service Performance Management Application (PSPM App), is extended as follows:

November 30, 2021:

  • For employees who's performance indicate a need for improvement
  • For employees with a performance improvement plan
  • For employees in their probationary period

December 31, 2021:

  • For employees whose performance is satisfactory who are on track to meet their work objectives
