ESDC Essential Training Curricula (formerly known as ESDC Mandatory Training Curricula)
It’s not just mandatory training, it’s essential! ESDC is known for, and we pride ourselves on, providing crucial services to Canadians and our colleagues when they need it most.
The ESDC Essential Training Curricula (ETC) for employees, managers and executives helps us continue providing excellent services and continue building the knowledge we need to carry us through our careers in areas such as:
- Keeping Canadians’ information safe;
- Understanding our core values and ethics as public servants;
- Supporting a workplace where everyone feels comfortable coming to work as their whole selves; and
- Understanding our obligations as employees, managers and executives in occupational health and safety.
The deadline for the completion of ESDC Essential Training Curriculum for most employees, managers and executives is March 31, 2022 or 1 year from being assigned your curriculum.
Who needs to complete essential training?
All indeterminate and term employees across ESDC, Service Canada and the Labour Program need to take the ETC. This includes:
- Employees on secondment or Interchange Canada assignment into ESDC;
- Casual employees who have an employment relationship with ESDC in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act;
- Students and casual workers because they have an employment relationship with the Department.
- Political staff and contractors hired through procurement contracts are not required to complete the ETC.
