Start the Return To Work Process
The manager and employee should follow these steps:
- Gather medical information to confirm fitness to work and functional limitations, using the Fitness to Work and Functional Abilities Assessment Form (DOCX, 80 KB)
- Agree on a Return to Work Plan (RTW) (HRB5050) (PDF, 210 KB) (opens new window)
- Implement the required accommodations and the manager should then ensure that the workplace is ready, using the Return to Work Checklist (DOCX, 71 KB)
- Reintegrate the employee in the workplace
- Follow-up using the Return to Work Plan (RTW) (HRB5050) (PDF, 210 KB) (opens new window)
Reminder: Managers must document all actions taken during a sick leave absence.
