The Enterprise Project Management Training and Curriculum
The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) has a suite of courses that relate to project management at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). These courses cover a range of project management knowledge areas that are used by project managers in their day-to-day work.
The EPMO courses are included in the Project Management Competency Development (PMCD) program curriculum and are identified below by the symbol. The courses are open to all employees of ESDC so you do not need to be registered in the PMCD program to benefit from these courses.
PMCD Curriculum
PMCD is a professional development program with the objective to enhance project management skills at ESDC. Once the PMCD participant has completed the assessment process, they will be provided with a personalized learning path (PLP) based on previous learning and work experiences.
The Practitioner curriculum (PMCD level 1) consists of 33 courses, which equates to 80 hours of training. Participants will not be asked to repeat them and will only have to complete the courses identified in their PLP.
The curriculum includes courses from the Canada School of Public Service, Employment and Social Development Canada as well as a select number from third party providers. The majority of the courses are online with only a handful of classroom courses.
The PMCD curriculum includes learning activities that cover three core competencies: Technical, Functional and Behavioural.
Technical Icon
The skills and abilities within the technical competence are consistent with the project management knowledge areas defined by the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) Guide® and are also consistent with ESDC's investment project environment.
Functional
These competencies relate to the functional areas of project management, as they are performed at ESDC.
Behavioral
These competencies are behaviors, attitudes, and core personality characteristics that contribute to a person's ability to manage projects.
The courses in the PMCD curriculum build on each other and, as such, most courses have pre-requisites.
Courses that are eligible for Professional Development Units (PDU) are noted below.
