Stewardship of Information and Workplace Behaviours (SIWB) Recertification

Stewardship of Information and Workplace Behaviours (SIWB) Recertification is on hold until fiscal year

2020–2021. Please visit the ESDC Mandatory Training Curriculum for Employees  page for the most up-to-date information about SIWB.

As part of our department’s public commitment to maintain the security of our systems and to protect the personal information of our clients and colleagues, all ESDC employees are required to maintain valid certification in the Stewardship of Information and Workplace Behaviours (SIWB). Certification is valid for two years.

Stewardship of Information and Workplace Behaviours (SIWB) certification is mandatory for all ESDC employees and requires recertification every two years.

For most employees, your learning profile in ILMS/Saba was updated on Sunday, February 12, 2017 to include your history of completing SIWB certification between 2014 and 2016.

If you recently received an automatic email from ILMS/Saba titled "Certification Completed", there is no action required on your part. This notification was sent as part of the background processing to trigger recertification.

  • If your certification has expired, you will soon receive a second automatic email from ILMS/Saba with instructions on how to recertify.
  • If your certification is still valid, you will receive a second automatic email from ILMS/Saba three months before your certification expires.

If you have any questions about this process, please review the guidance below.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the first notification.

Thank you,
ILMS/Saba team

Recertification process

  1. An email message, including the link to log in to ILMS/Saba, will be sent to you three months before your certification expires.
    • If this is the first time that you will access the new ILMS/Saba system, please follow these instructions (PDF, 270 KB) to set up your password.
    • If you have already accessed your ILMS/Saba account for other learning, you may return to the system directly, log in and access the SIWB test under My Learning or by searching the learning catalogue for the test.
    • If you have any trouble accessing ILMS/Saba, please contact the National Service Desk.
  2. In the My Learning area of your home page on ILMS/Saba, you will find the Workplace Effectiveness Program, of which the SIWB test is mandatory and the SIWB course is recommended.
  3. The test is only 10 questions long and should take you 15 minutes or less to complete. The pass mark is 70% or greater.
  4. If you complete the test successfully, you will receive a message on ILMS/Saba and an automatic email in Outlook that will confirm your successful recertification. You can also print your certificate from ILMS/Saba for your records.
  5. Your results will be updated in your ILMS/Saba profile and in your manager's dashboard.
  6. If you did not complete the SIWB test successfully the first time, you will be prompted to complete it a second time on ILMS/Saba. If you are unsuccessful the second time, a report will be sent to the College’s National Common Learning Coordination Team (NCLC). You and your manager will be contacted by the NCLC team with additional information on how to proceed with your recertification.
