    Changing the Default Font in Excel

    Before you change your default font, note that some fonts (e.g. Calibri, Century, Antiqua…) have been known to cause printing issues. Arial and Times New Roman are known to be 100% reliable fonts and are highly recommended.

    1. On the File ribbon menu, select Options from the left-hand menu.
    2. In the Excel Options window, from the left-hand menu select General (if it is not already selected).

    In the When creating new workbooks section, select your preferred default font style and font size, then choose the OK button.

  • How do I password protect an Excel spreadsheet?

    Password Protect an Excel Spreadsheet

    Before choosing a password, be aware that if you lose or forget your case-sensitive password it cannot be

    recovered, and the file can never again be opened!

    To password-protect a spreadsheet in Excel:

    1. With the spreadsheet open, select the File ribbon menu.
    2. In the Info pane, select Protect Workbook, then choose Encrypt with Password.
    3. In the Encrypt Document window, enter your chosen password and select OK.
    4. In the Confirm Password window, re-enter the same password and select OK. The file is now password-protected.  You can test this by closing and re-opening the file.

    To remove password-protection: repeat the above steps, this time deleting the password from the Encrypt Document dialogue box (i.e. make it blank).

    To print the worksheet that you are currently viewing:

    1. On the File ribbon menu, select Print from the left-hand menu (or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+P).
    2. In the Print pane, select the Print button to begin printing.

    Or. you can request several worksheets to be printed at once:

    1. Select the tab of the first worksheet you want to print.
    2. Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and select the tab(s) of each additional worksheet(s) you also want to print. (or, to quickly select all worksheets: right-click on a sheet tab and choose Select All Sheets.
    3. On the File ribbon menu, select Print from the left-hand menu (or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+P).
    Print a Workbook to a File

    In special circumstances you may wish to print to a file:

    1. On the File ribbon menu, select Print from the left-hand menu (or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+P).
    2. In the Print pane, select the identified printer you are using to open a drop-down box of optional printers. Select the last option, Print to File, to place a checkmark next to it.
    3.  In the Print pane, select the Print button.
    4. In the Print to File window, enter the output file name you wish to save it under, then select the OK button. The file will be saved on your F: drive.
