Acquisition Card Transition – FAQ

Cardholders should be receiving their NBC MasterCard acquisition card between mid-September and early October 2021. The new card will be mailed to the address provided in the initial application. Note that reception dates are subject to mailing delays.

Once a cardholder receives their NBC MasterCard acquisition card in the mail, they must:

1. Read the acknowledgement of responsibilities and obligations on the Receipt of Acquisition Card Form (ADM5080);
2. Sign the ADM5080;
3. Return a PDF copy of the ADM5080 to NC-PURCHASING_PORTAL-PORTAIL_D'ACHATS-GD.

The Visa Desjardins acquisition card will automatically be cancelled in October 2021. You will need to complete an Acquisition Card application and expenditure authorization form online as soon as possible to request a NBC MasterCard.

The NBC MasterCard acquisition card is usable once activated by the bank as of October 1st, 2021.

No, Visa Desjardins acquisition cards will automatically be cancelled once the NBC MasterCard is received. All acquisition cardholders must request the new NBC MasterCard prior to October 1, 2021.

You must destroy your Visa Desjardins acquisition card only once you have received your NBC MasterCard.

Yes, cardholders will still have access to VISM and will be able to reconcile VISA statements in myEMS (SAP) for a few months after the transition. Cardholders must complete their September reconciliation as soon as they are available to do so. A confirmed date to follow.

Once you receive your NBC MasterCard and it is activated by the bank, you must cancel all pre-authorized payments for October 2021 on your Visa Desjardins acquisition card. If you wish to retain pre-authorized payments, you must give the provider your new NBC MasterCard acquisition card number and information.

Note that if your haven’t received your NBC MasterCard by October 2021, your pre-authorized payment can still be applied to your Visa Desjardins card. However, the cancellation and/or modifications must be done as soon as you receive your NBC MasterCard.

Cardholders should expect to receive bilingual training videos and further information by email by the end of September 2021. In addition, the training videos are now available on the Acquisition Card (AC) Program page on iService, under the “Training” tab.

You will be entering your new MasterCard acquisition card number, along with the new “Card Type” in myEMS (SAP) as “MCNB” for MasterCard – National Bank, instead of “VSDJ” for VISA – Desjardins.” Everything else will remain the same.

There will be no change to the current monthly reconciliation process. Please see Reconcile My Monthly Statements on how to reconcile your monthly statements in myEMS (SAP).

Note however that the reconciliation schedule for myEMS (SAP) uploads to be completed and account statements to be available is subject to change.

Cardholders will be able to use the NBC MasterCard Smart Data platform. Similar to VISM, you will be able to log into your new account to obtain your monthly statement, authorization numbers and review transactions.

No, the current departmental acquisition card policy will remain the same. Updates to the acquisition card information on iService are scheduled for completion by the end of the calendar year 2021.
