myEMS (PeopleSoft) - Human Resources Reporting

Background

The myEMS (PeopleSoft) HR Reporting team has been producing raw data reports in support of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) management and business lines since implementation at ESDC in 2015. These reports are programmed in Cognos, and accessed through the Inquiry, Reporting and Information System (IRIS).

Various self-service reports are available for use by Branch Management Services groups and HR business lines and are maintained by the HR Reporting team in the Human Resources Business System (HRBS) division. Adhoc reports are also available and can be requested through the HR Service Centre Portal.

Access & Data Restrictions

myEMS (PeopleSoft) data is classified as Protected B information. Access to this data is restricted and only provided on a need to know basis and may be subject to approval.

Recipients of HR reports must comply with applicable departmental regulations and policies on the handling of employee data. The Branch/Directorate/Division will be held liable for any misuse or unauthorized disclosure of the data. IRIS Self-Service Access for Recurrent Reports

IRIS self-service reports are available for Human Resources Practitioners and Branch Management Services personnel using IRIS.

All reports are created using the departmental organizational structure. To assist you in determining the appropriate Department ID for the report you wish to request please refer to the following list: Departmental Org Structure.

Access is granted with Manager's approval and from the appropriate human resources business owners. Please note that in some cases, approval from the appropriate Director, DG or ADM may be required. All self-service users must agree and complete the Terms of Use (PDF, 480 KB) document.

Requesting Access to IRIS Self-Service reports

To request access to IRIS Self-service reporting please navigate below the "I am a Manager" column of the HRSC Portal:

  1. Navigate to the PeopleSoft Related Request section, click on "HR Reporting".
  2. Select "Access to Cognos (IRIS) Reporting Self-Service" from the Category* Dropdown menu.
  3. A popup providing a link to the Terms of Use document appears. Click Close to proceed.
  4. Select the appropriate group from the Sub Category* Dropdown menu.
  5. Use the radio buttons to Select Data Period*
  6. In the Dept ID for data required field, input 100000. This field is not used for access requests.
  7. Leave the “Keywords to Distinguish Request”, “Fields Needed to See in the Report” and “Description of Request” blank. These fields are not used for access requests.
  8. Please complete the Region*, Branch/SC Region*, Directorate*, Required by* and Importance* portions of the form.
  9. If access is requested on behalf of an authorized manager, please indicate their name in the Manager field under the Authorization section. If you are submitting this request as the approving manager, please click on "Me".
  10. Attach the completed Terms of Use document.
  11. Click Submit.

Requesting Adhoc Reports

To request Adhoc reports please navigate below the "I am a Manager" column of the HRSC Portal:

  1. Navigate to the PeopleSoft Related Request section, click on "HR Reporting"
  2. Select the appropriate item from the Categorydropdown menu:
    • New Custom Report
    • Other Reports (Used for ATIP, Grievances or Parliamentary Questions)
    • Report a problem
    • Re-run / Minor changes to an existing report
  3. Select an appropriate Sub-Category*.  Use the radio buttons to indicate the Select Data Period* of your report.
  4. Specify the Department ID in the DEPT ID for data requested* field.
  5. Specify keywords to search for the request in the Keywords to Distinguish Request field. Please provide as many details as possible in the "Description of Request" field.
  6. Please complete the Region*, Branch/SC Region*, Directorate*, Required by* and Importance* portions of the form.
  7. If the report is requested on behalf of an authorized manager, please indicate their name in the Manager Field under the Authorization section. If you are submitting this request as the approving manager, please click on "Me".
  8. Please provide any relevant documents.
  9. Click Submit.
