Staffing Sub-Delegation Training
This training is mandatory for:
- All managers who occupy a position (substantively or temporarily) that requires staffing sub-delegation.
To obtain staffing sub-delegation, additional prerequisite learning is now required before completing the course Staffing: A Resourcing Tool for Managers (P901). For a complete list of the courses to complete, please refer to the Human Resources Authorities page.
Long Description
Managers must meet 3 criteria to obtain sub-delegated authority at ESDC:
- Successfully complete a P901 Staffing: A Resourcing Tool for Managers via the Canada School of Public Service (GCcampus);
- Orientation Session for Staffing Sub-Delegation at ESDC (Saba); and
- Obtain Section 34 signing authority.

Staffing sub-delegation training must be completed as part of the ESDC Mandatory Training Curriculum for Managers.

Orientation Session for Staffing Sub-Delegation at ESDC
The goal of this course is to give you, as a sub-delegated manager, the knowledge and competencies to exercise your sub delegated authorities as per ESDC’s Staffing Direction policies and guidelines and the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Appointment Framework.
Prerequisite: It is recommended that you complete the Canada School of Public Service P901 Staffing: A Resourcing Tool for Managers course, or an equivalent, prior to taking this course. This course is mandatory for managers requiring sub-delegation in staffing or for those who could need it in the future.

This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the staffing process in the context of human resources (HR) responsibilities under the PSEA.
