HR-to-Pay (Phoenix) training

The Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) has developed new mandatory Phoenix training for all Federal Public Service employees, team leaders and managers. The online training explains how human resources information affects pay (e.g., work schedules, leave and overtime) and what steps to take to help with being paid correctly and on time.

Training requirements

The HR-to-Pay (Phoenix) training is a series of self-paced, online courses that are accessible via Saba.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: All ESDC employees who are paid through the Phoenix pay system must complete this new mandatory training by June 1, 2018.

This training will be integrated into the Orientation Curriculum for New Employees of the Department in Fiscal Year 2018–19.

HR-to-Pay (Phoenix) training

  • Employees

    Once you register for HR-to-Pay Stabilization Training Curriculum - Employees, the following 3 courses must be followed in sequence in order for the entire training to be considered complete in Saba:

    1. Understanding the Pay Cycle, Pay Calendar and Pay Stub (30 mins)
    2. Overview of Relevant HR-to-Pay Interface (30 mins)
    3. Submitting Leave and Pay Requests (90 mins)

    This troubleshooting guide (DOCX, 293 KB) provides solutions to technical roadblocks you may encounter (e.g. launching courses and/or pop-ups) while completing the training. It is also accessible in Saba.

    Register for HR-to-Pay Stabilization Training Curriculum - Employees

  • Team Leaders/Managers (those with sub-delegation levels 1 through 6)

    Once you register for HR-to-Pay Stabilization Training Curriculum– Managers Levels 1 to 6 footnote *, the following 4 courses must be followed in sequence in order for the entire training to be considered complete in Saba:

    1. Understanding the Pay Cycle, Pay Calendar and Pay Stub (30 mins)
    2. Overview of Relevant HR-to-Pay Interface (30 mins)
    3. Submitting Leave and Pay Requests (90 mins)
    4. How to Perform Leave and Pay-Related Transactions for your Employees (90 mins)

Once you have completed all courses, it will be logged in your learning history.

As a Team Leader/Manager, how do I track my team's learning?

First, check to make sure that your full team is reporting to you in Saba. If not, send missing team members this instructional infographic for how to add you as their manager.

You can monitor your team’s completion in Saba through your Team dashboard. You may also wish to assign the training to your team.
