    Required Training for Functional Specialists

    Financial Officers

    The Canada School of Public Service and the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada have created a basic curriculum for financial management professionals (FI-01 to FI-04).

    This new suite of four training courses must be completed by all new financial officers within their first two years in the FI group.

    • Financial Management Control Frameworks (F111)
    • Government Planning, Budgeting, Reporting and Evaluation Cycle (F112)
    • Financial Management Systems (F113)
    • Applying Key Concepts in Financial Management (F304)

    Note: Financial officers who previously completed F111 and F112 as classroom courses are not required to take the new F304 course.

    Procurement Specialists

    As a procurement specialist, you are responsible for planning and executing the acquisition of goods, services, and construction services in a manner that supports the delivery of government programs while providing the best value for the Crown. You work with clients to define requirements, forecast life-cycle costs, and develop and implement procurement strategies.

    Materiel Management Specialists

    As a materiel management specialist, you are responsible for managing the Crown's moveable and tangible assets—vehicles, equipment, furniture, and furnishings, etc.—throughout their life cycles, including planning, certain procurement activities, operations and maintenance, and disposal.

    Real Property Specialists

    As a real property (RP) specialist, you are responsible for managing federal real property (land, buildings, infrastructure and space) throughout its life cycle, which includes planning, acquisition, operations and maintenance, and disposition. Your job is to ensure these assets are used efficiently and effectively in support of program delivery.
