Search Tips
Starting simple
- All web pages have titles. Think about how you would title the web page for the information you're looking for and then try entering in that phrase to search.
Using AND
- Using the word "and" between two words ensures your search results only contain both of those words.
- Example: values and ethics
Using OR
- Using the word "or" between two words ensures your search results contain either word.
- Example: policies or policy
Search with an exact phrase
- Using quotation marks around words will ensure those words are searched in that exact order.
- Example: "language training"
Search a key phrase
- The more descriptive your search phrase, the more likely you are to get a relevant search result. Instead of using one word more search entries, try a simply search phrase to find what you are looking for.
- Example: mandatory training for employees
Case doesn’t matter
- The search isn't case sensitive.
- Example: Compensation and benefits
Watch the spaces
- Having an extra space at the beginning or the end of your search word or search phrase may affect your search results. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
Don't use special symbols
- Using the ampersand symbol (&) or dashes (-) in your search phrase may affect search results. Try avoiding using them.
Advanced Search
- The iService Search searches the entire iService site by default, whereas the IntraWeb Search searches all of the departmental Intranet sites.
- On a search result page, you can select the Advanced Search link to help refine your search results. If you want to search for only documents, select the File Format drop down box and select the format you wish to only search.
- Or if you want to refine your search to a specific branch select the appropriate check box under Refine by collection.
