Self-Identification Questionnaire – Workforce survey
Our Department is committed to diversity and inclusion and to achieving equitable participation by eliminating any disadvantage in employment experienced by designated group employees: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with a disability and members of a visible minority.
The Workforce Survey will help create an accurate picture of the composition of our workforce and pinpoint where we need to eliminate barriers which limit or exclude designated groups from opportunities which should be open to all employees.
Our commitment to employment equity means:
- Ensuring effective and fair human resources management by recognizing the value of diversity, promoting full participation and ensuring dignity and respect for all employees;
- Planning and implementing programs, systems, policies and practices that are free of barriers to employment;
- Enhancing opportunities that are based on fairness to support the achievement of a representative workforce.
Your participation matters
It is important that each employee completes the workforce survey. By completing it, even if you are not part of a designated group, you help the organization to ensure social equity for all employees and to have a clear picture of the composition of its workforce. However, you remain free to make a statement or not.
By completing the survey, you will:
- Help the Department collect data on the composition of the entire departmental workforce, not only the members of the designated groups, and thereby fulfil its employment equity obligations.
- Help identify obstacles to recruitment, training and promotion.
- Help the Department better plan its human resources requirements in the interest of employees.
- Contribute to the creation of a workplace that reflects the diversity of the people you serve.
According to the Canadian Human Rights Commission, at least 80% participation in the workforce survey is required to ensure diversity and inclusion statistical analysis accuracy.
