ESDC Code of Conduct

When you're faced with an ethical problem at work, do you know where to turn for guidance?

Hi.

I'm Joanne Lamothe, HRSDC's Co-champion for Values and Ethics.

Values and ethics are the foundation of all work done by the federal public service.

They are at the heart of the standards we set for respecting people, exercising integrity and financial stewardship, and maintaining excellence in our service to Canadians.

That's why it's important to know what to do when you feel that your values and ethics are being compromised or challenged at work.

I'm pleased to announce that HRSDC has developed a new Code of Conduct for all employees.

The new Code is meant to build on the Federal Public Service's Values and Ethics Code by providing information that is specific to HRSDC employees.

Our Code is our guidepost to maintaining a healthy workplace.

It supports us for interacting respectfully and professionally in our working relationships, and exercising integrity in our business practices.

I urge everyone to read HRSDC's Code of Conduct.

Discuss it with your manager and colleagues to learn more about how it can help you in your daily work.

Observing the Code is a condition of employment for all staff at HRSDC.

By familiarizing ourselves with the Code, we all become ambassadors in maintaining the high standards in values and ethics that are at the core of HRSDC's mandate.

Visit the HRSDC Code of Conduct website.

You'll find helpful tools, case scenarios, and even some instructional games to increase your knowledge of workplace values and ethics.

Let's all read the Code and use it in our daily lives at HRSDC.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to public service excellence.
