An employee occupies a position identified as bilingual. The incumbent meets the language requirements of the position, has valid Second Language Examination (SLE) results and is entitled to receive a minimum of 10 days' pay in a month in the position to which the bilingualism bonus applies.

SLE results demonstrate that the employee does not meet the linguistic requirements of his/ her position.

DATE BILINGUALISM BONUS CEASES: 2 months after the date of the written notice which must be issued within 10 working days from the date of the decision.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is appointed to a bilingual position at the Executive Group level.

DATE BILINGUALISM BONUS CEASES: 1st of the month in which the employee does not meet the 10 days' pay in a position to which the bilingualism bonus applies.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is temporarily assigned to a bilingual position at the Executive Group level.

An employee who receives the bilingualism bonus is appointed by the Governor in Council to a bilingual position.

DATE BILINGUALISM BONUS CEASES: 2 months after the date of the written notice which must be issued within 10 working days from the date of the decision.

A bilingual position is re-identified as unilingual and the incumbent is receiving the bilingualism bonus.

DATE BILINGUALISM BONUS CEASES: 2 months after the employee is notified or 2 months after the position is re-identified, whichever comes later.

NOTE: Employee must be notified within 10 working days of a management decision.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is temporarily assigned to another bilingual position, with a higher or same linguistic profile.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is required to temporarily perform most of the duties of a position that has the same pay level but different linguistic identification or linguistic profile.

An employee who receives the bilingualism bonus is temporarily assigned to a unilingual position and the basic monthly salary of the new position is less than, or equal to the basic monthly salary of the regular position plus the bonus.

An employee who receives the bilingualism bonus is temporarily assigned to a unilingual position where the basic monthly salary of the new position is more than the basic monthly salary of the regular position plus the bonus.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is on a special assignment to a bilingual position. The incumbent has valid SLE results and meets the linguistic requirements of the position assigned to.

An employee, who receives the bilingualism bonus, is on an Interchange Canada assignment to an organization outside the federal Public Service. A senior official from the host organization has confirmed in writing that the use of both official languages is required on an on-going basis.

A term employee is appointed to a bilingual position for a period of 3 months or less.

A term employee appointed to a bilingual position for a term not exceeding 3 months but remains in a bilingual position beyond the 3 month period. The incumbent has valid SLE results and meets the linguistic profile of the bilingual position.

A term employee appointed to a bilingual position for a specified term exceeding 3 months, has valid SLE results and meets the linguistic profile of the bilingual position.
