About the Senior Disclosure Officer

The SDO receives disclosures of wrongdoing directly from public servants or upon receipt of alleged disclosure referred by a supervisor. The SDO will screen and complete a preliminary analysis of the information contained in the disclosure of wrongdoing allegation, inform the public servant of the result of the analysis, if warranted, select, mandate an investigation, inform the alleged wrongdoer of the nature of the disclosure and his rights, and review the report of the investigators' findings. If warranted, the Senior Disclosure Officer may make recommendations to the Chief Executive and inform the alleged wrongdoer of the result of the investigation.

The SDO will also ensure the information collected is protected, and that information and documents are safeguarded, as well as the protection of the identity of all those involved in the disclosure of wrongdoing process to the best extent possible. They will protect from reprisal the public servant who discloses wrongdoing or that is involved in a disclosure investigation.
