Laptops and Tablets
Whether you are on the move, at your desk, or working from home, laptops and tablets (and the information contained on them) must be safeguarded.
DO...
- Ensure that your Entrust token is stored securely at all times.
- Ensure you use an authorized and approved wireless connectivity (WIFI).
- Conduct your activities within the parameters of the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector and the ESDC Network Use Directive.
- Use proper end-of-day procedures to ensure that anti-virus and other patches are up-to-date.
- Store the device in a secure place (e.g. a locked cabinet) at the end of the day as a best practice.
- Immediately advise your manager and report it to your Regional Security Office if your device is lost or stolen.
DON'T...
- Walk away from a live session without locking your desktop.
- Leave IT equipment/components unattended.
- Connect personal devices (e.g. USB keys, smartphones, music players) to the laptop or tablet, not even to charge them.
- Share a laptop or tablet that’s been assigned to you with another employee.
