Disposition Tracking Tool (DTT)

Purpose of the DTT

  • Tracks the disposition of Information Resources (IR) within ESDC
  • Supports ESDC in reporting planned and completed departmental disposition as required by Treasury Board
  • Management Accountability Framework (MAF) compliant
  • Centralizes the disposition of information and allows all ESDC employees to access the inventory

The official automated system used for capturing the disposition of electronic and physical information resources. Visit the Directive on Recordkeeping glossary for more information.

How it works

Complete disposition in three simple steps:

Prepare the Submission

Prepare the IR inventory; methodology differs depending on the format of the information. Create a new request in the DTT, attach the inventory, and send for approval.

Receive Executive Approval

When the executive receives the request, they will be required to answer four questions attesting their position as an executive, that no ATIP or litigation hold is applied on the information, that the information is correct and disposition can proceed, and that they take full accountability for the disposition action.

Dispose

When the executive has authorized the disposition action, the submitter will receive a system-generated email alerting them of the approval. Once the email is received, the submitter may proceed with the disposition of the IR's identified. Following the disposition, the submitter must return to the request and identify the "Date Disposed". Only once this is done will the request be deemed complete.

Using the DTT

In the Disposition Tracking Tool (DTT), navigate to your Branch/Region Home Page by selecting your Branch or Region from the left-hand menu. Consult the "DTT Guide" provided on the left hand side of the page should you encounter any difficulties.

DTT Training

The new version of the tool is intended to be as intuitive as possible. Should you encounter any difficulties, your first step is to consult the guide provided in the DTT. If you are still having difficulties with specific sections of the tool, submit a request to the Enterprise IM mailbox at: gestioninformation-informationmanagement@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca and identify which area you would like clarified (such as the FileScan tool, approval process, etc.).
