  • What is Data Gateway?

    Data Gateway

    Allows secure file exchange (upload-download) for external partners with various government of Canada departments under an authorized information exchange agreement or program.

    The Data Gateway is composed of three major functions:

    1. Secure facing web site to allow users to upload-download files.
    2. Intranet broker service to automate file validation, transfer, and processing.
    3. Intranet administration website that allows administrators to manage organizations and users of their respective programs.

  • Benefits of the Data Gateway?
    • Simple, intuitive and easy to use
    • Can accommodate new programs that expect to receive files with a quick and minimal configuration
    • No components to install on the user's desktop, only a web browser is required
    • Data classified up to protected B can be received. Data Gateway uses strong user ID/password for authentication and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to encrypt the data during a user's session
    • Data transfer and maintenance costs are minimal compared to COTS product
  • Why was it built?
    To support the Indigenous and LMDA Agreement holders in the delivery of Back to work Measures.

    I am a provincial officer working on going back to work measures program

    I establish an action plan for our provincial case management system. A performance measurement plan is established by the Accountability program to facilitate continuous monitoring and assessment of the results by collecting data on outcomes. I use Data Gateway to upload performance results.

    I am the Health and Safety representative of a large organization

    When a hazardous occurrence results in a major or disabling injury to one of our employees, I must report it to Labour Program. I use Data Gateway to upload my EAHOR report.

    4. Dispatching based on file and region
    5. Transfer to the ESDC network
    6. Labour Officer receives the files

    • ILMP Trusted Partners connect via http / https to PAZ (TLS 1.2)
    • HTTP requests go through the Appgate to Authenticate + second factor through the Entrust IDG Server for Active Directory Authentication through a firewall. These http requests have access to:
      • MNDB002 ARO Oracle Database
      • MNDB005 DG Oracle Database
    • HTTPS / SSL requests leave the Appgate and authenticate a the firewall to the MNAP2696 Server where the Administrators have access to:
      • Unix Servers
      • Network Drives
      • Sharepoint Libraries
    • Other Partners connect via https to PAZ (TLS 1.0) through the DG REceivers. Then through the first firewall (BRZ) and DGDispatchService to the second firewall (EOZ). Here the will have access to:
      • DG Oracle Database

    On the Intranet instance, the user uses his Active Directory credentials to log in.

    On the Public instance, the user uses his Data Gateway credentials to log in.

    Data Gateway Login for GOC Netword Account

    Simple Interface, User can either choose to upload a file or browse their upload history.

    Data Gateway home page, select an organization, Upload files, View history, Change password

    The user simply needs to select a file to upload and the application will validate the file type, to make sure it is accepted. For some organizations, the file content will also be validated in the background.

    • To upload multiple files, click on the browse button and use the shift or ctrl key to select them
      (Please note that the total size of all the files selected cannot be over 100 MB)

    At this point, the user can choose to upload other files for another organization. Otherwise, the user is done with the Data Gateway until their next file upload.

    • Expiry date (YYY-MM-DD) (required)
    • Share now, Reset, Cancel buttons.

    On the client side, a button will appear and the file will be available for the user to download.

    Click a file name to download it.

    Select the file name to download or click on the delete files trash can. You can also click on Delete all files.
