  • What is an Electronic Signature?

    An electronic signature consists of one or more letters, characters, numbers or other symbols incorporated in, attached to or associated with an electronic document. It is suitable for low to moderate risk transactions due to the lack of content control and validation of the identity of the signee. (e.g. An electronic scan of a "wet signature.", Use of a stylus to produce a signature on an e-signature scanner).

  • When to use an Electronic Signature?

    The use of electronic signatures are appropriate for the following types of approvals:

    • ceremonial such as certificates;
    • review such as cover memos.

    Electronic signatures do not support high-risk transactions and the signer should consider the following before using this method of approval:

    • it does not validate the identity of the signer;
    • it does not secure the content after signing;
    • it is not authorized and regulated by certificate authorities.
  • Can I Sign Documents using my Workplace Smart Phone?
