Connecting directly to another system using the System Identification (SI) number
1. You have a boardroom with a large Videoconferencing unit:
You have been given an SI number to connect to another device:
[Large VC to SI]
- Press the Home button if needed.
- On the home screen, select Place a Call.
- Enter the 5-digit SI number of the room you want to connect to.
- Press the green Call button.
- Once connected, you can use the Mute and volume controls.
- When finished, press the red Hang Up button.
Or
2. You have an Executive Desktop Videoconferencing unit:
You have been given an SI number to connect to another device:
[Executive Desktop to SI]
- Press the Home button if needed.
- On the home screen, select Place a Call for Polycom, or the green Call button for a Tandberg.
- Enter the 5-digit SI number of the room you want to connect to.
- Press the green Call button.
- Once connected, you can use the Mute and volume controls.
- When finished, press the red Hang Up or End Call button.
Or
3. You have Skype for Business on your laptop, PC or tablet:
You have been given an SI number to connect to another device:
[S4B to SI]
- Open the contact list in Skype for Business.
- In the Find Someone field, enter the 5-digit SI Number of the room you want to connect to, followed by @EDSC-ESDC.gc.ca and then press Enter, this will open the VMR conference window in Skype.
- If this does not work, ask the owner of the VC unit for the IP address, and enter the IP address of the room you want to connect to, followed by @EDSC-ESDC.gc.ca and then press Enter.
- Click on the video call icon and select 'start my video'
- Once connected, you can use the Mute.
- When finished, press the red Hang Up button.
- Click on the close button to close the conversation window.
