Local Internet Access Services (LIAS)
Local Internet Access Services (LIAS) provides a secure and stable Internet connection that does not use the ESDC network. Circumstances when you might need/want this service include:
- Outreach offices
- Remote locations with network connectivity challenges.
- Business needs that require the Internet without also providing access to the ESDC network.
Please note the following constraints:
- LIAS is not a wireless service; it still requires a network cable connection.
- LIAS is not available for all ESDC locations.
- The proposed location must have/receive IT Security approval.
- This service requires its own unique username and password.
You can request LIAS by submitting an online request to the National Service Desk. Your request will be evaluated to determine whether this is the correct service to meet your needs. Another solution may be recommended to you instead.
Do not attempt to procure this type of Internet access by other means (e.g. through an outside service provider using an acquisition card). Doing so will pose a security risk to the department’s information and network.
