Footrest

The footrest is necessary when the chair is raised for a user to reach a work surface and feet are not supported. Using a footrest also allows you to shift position when you are working for a long period in the same position. If your feet are supported, the muscle tension in your legs is reduced and blood circulation is better. The footrest should allow you to rest your feet comfortably, i.e., it should have a minimum width of 30 cm and a minimum depth of 30 cm.

There are two main categories of footrest: fixed and adjustable. A fixed footrest should have an angle of about 10 degrees. An adjustable footrest allows you to set the angle and height according to your individual needs and should have a range of angles between 0 and 20 degrees, and should be easy to adjust.

  • The comfort angle for ankles is around 90 degrees. The angle of the footrest will depend on each person's comfort zone and the type of shoes worn.
  • You should also be able to adjust the height of the footrest. The recommended height is 2 cm to 23 cm.
  • The surface of the footrest should be anti-slip so that your feet do not slide.
