A message from the Policy Health and Safety Committee to all employees

Preventing slips, trips and falls

Did you know that at ESDC some 40% of injuries reported by employees are due to falls? That amounts to a lot of pain and suffering that can mostly be avoided. What you can do:

  • always close desk and filing cabinet drawers;
  • tidy up cables hanging from under your keyboard tray;
  • cover temporary cables across floors;
  • keep workspaces and aisles free of obstruction;
  • dispose of surplus equipment;
  • notify any hazardous situations to your manager; and
  • collaborate with your health and safety representative or committee during the health and safety inspections.

To report a hazardous situation involving building maintenance, call the National Service Call Centre (NSCC), accessible 24/7, at 1‑800‑463‑1850. The NSCC will dispatch the appropriate personnel to deal with your request.

Safety is everyone’s business. Let’s work together to stay working!
