Brief Description of Life Experience related to Mental Health:

I am a single parent to one beautiful little girl. I have struggled with mental health issues for a majority of my adult life and never realized it. I always thought something was wrong with me, little did I know, there were external and internal factors contributing to my mental health issues such as family issues, depression, eating related problems, daily stressors, emotional abuse and finding a work life balance. With support from friends, family members and the community I was able to gain some control of my life and improve my mental health. Even though I am in a better place now, my mental health is something that will always require to be maintained which can be done with regular self-care. I know that I became a stronger person because of all the support that I received and all of the struggles that I overcame. As they say: Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it; so I would like to be someone's support to react to life's day to day struggles/realities.
