Brief Description of Life Experience related to Mental Health:

I have worked in Employment Insurance Investigations (Integrity) since 2003, 8 years as a Team Leader. I have always been an active person. I entered hospital for an extremely minor day surgery and ended up going into cardiac arrest where my heart stopped for almost two minutes. I attempted to go back to work after my scheduled two weeks off and found I was prone to panic attacks. At the time, I was in, what I found to be, a stressful supervisory role and wonder if this could have been a factor in the development of my heart condition? During that period I was getting migraines every two months or so and having trouble sleeping at night. With the support of everyone around me, I took about two months off. I utilized EAP and received counselling and returned to work. I did accept a demotion but I am in a much better place now.
