Brief Description of Life Experience related to Mental Health:

I provided care for my grandfather as he battled Alzheimer’s and passed away one year later. The disease was debilitating, his memory loss and failure to identify friends and family was both saddening and mentally exhausting. I directed my academic studies towards counselling psychology to learn more about coping techniques. I have also been volunteering for an anonymous helpline providing assistance to those battling depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicidal ideations. I am excited to help my colleagues search for meaningful ways to cope with their experiences, and offer a safe space for them to know that they are heard.
