Rendering Decision Checklist
Logistics:
Ensure letter is dated, signed and 2 copies made;
Ensure room is not on the same floor as colleagues (another floor/building is best);
Ensure it is at the end of day (if possible) so employee can go home;
Meeting:
Welcome everyone to the meeting;
Recap that this meeting is in regard to the meeting held on
[Date]

State that you have reviewed all the information provided in the meeting and all relevant factors and in conclusion that you will be issuing a
[State disciplinary and/or administrative action]

Give both copies of letters to the employee and Union (If present) for review;
Give a few minutes for employee to read letter;
Ask that employee sign both copies of the letter and provide you one copy back as the other copy is for him to retain [signature does not mean the employee agrees just that he acknowledges receipt of the letter];
If Union wants a copy then they can have the employee photocopy one for them;
Labour Relations will require a signed copy once meeting is complete;
You can state that as it is the end of day the employee can leave and will be paid the rest of his normal working hours, if employee feels stressed or requests;
