Staffing and Recruitment for Executive Positions

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is committed to having a merit-based staffing system that is nimble and a key enabler of a high-performing ESDC workforce. We support sub-delegated managers in the delivery of departmental mandates and priorities, foster diversity and linguistic duality, and uphold ethical hiring practices.

Workforce Planning Program

Our team engages senior management in strategic staffing plans and in determining current gaps and strategies to ensure a sustained workforce supply chain. In addition, we provide workforce trends and identify key solutions that will mitigate identified risks derived from the outlined challenges observed.

Executive Performance and Talent Management

The Performance Management Program for Executives is designed to encourage excellent performance by setting clear objectives and evaluating the achievement of results; recognize and reward performance; and provide a framework within which a consistent approach to performance management can be applied.

Executive talent management is designed to support the ongoing development and retention of executives through dialogue, feedback, career support, and individually tailored learning, while supporting current and future departmental business goals.

Our team supports the ongoing development and engagement of executives with current and future departmental business goals in mind. We support the discussions about our executive talent and their development needs and coordinate the succession planning and integrated talent and performance management discussions. We support leadership development and provide guidance to executives on creating performance agreements, learning and development plans, documenting mid-year review discussions and year-end performance assessments, and coordinate the administration of performance-based compensation.
