Bilingual Bonus (BB)

The bilingualism bonus is an annual payment of $800, paid on a bi-weekly basis to “eligible” employees with their salary. Part-time employees are paid the bonus on a pro rata basis to be calculated in reference to the normal hours these employees are expected to work. An eligible employee is one who:

  • Occupies a bilingual position; and
  • Has Second Language Evaluation (SLE) results confirming that he/she meets the language requirements of his/her position.

There are certain employees who meet the above criteria, however, who are not eligible to receive the bonus (Example: Part-time employees working one third or less than the normal working hours for the same group and category, term employees hired for three months or less and, the Executive Group). Please refer to the Bilingual Bonus Directive for further clarification.
