CS Classification Changes – Timeline Update

As you may be aware from recent messaging on Computer Systems (CS) classification changes, the CS occupational group will soon become the Information Technology (IT) group. While October 2021 was the planned date for changes to the CS group, more time is needed to ensure proper sequencing between work within the departments involved, human resources and pay systems. The classification changes are now set to take place in December 2021.

All CS employees will still receive advanced personal notification of which position they are mapped to under the new classification. This is now scheduled to take place in September 2021.

For more information, I invite you to consult:

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) about CS changes, available on the Classification Renewal GCpedia page; and
  • FAQs about CS changes, specific to ESDC, available on iService. Information on this page will continue to be updated as needed.

Managers looking for more resources can consult the July 12, 2021, edition of the HR info RH bulletin, which includes an article on Tips on Communicating Change.

Our communications and human resources teams are planning information sessions for managers and employees to help ease this transition, including an event today, August 10 (English) and on August 12 (French), and others later this summer and fall. To learn more about this week’s information sessions, please consult the August 6 edition of IITB News.
