Delegation of Authority in matters of Classification

The classification authority delegated to the Department by the Treasury Board includes all groups/sub-groups and levels except levels EX 04 and EX 05.

The classification authority is delegated to accredited Organization and Classification Specialists only, for the duration that they occupy a position within ESDC.

Only those persons occupying the positions listed in the departmental "Table of Human Resources Authorities" instrument are authorized to exercise the powers in performing the activities identified in the delegation instrument on behalf of the Deputy Minister.

Only the DM has the authority to delegate to a lower level or withdraw a delegated authority.

It is the policy of the Treasury Board to authorize deputy heads to make classification decisions on its behalf, consistent with prescribed classification standards and within specified occupational groups and levels.
