Unfreeze a position

When:

  • A position is frozen in myEMS (PeopleSoft) when conditions are tied to the position (position needs to be abolished once vacant or must be reviewed and updated).

Information to consider before you proceed:

  • A consultation between the manager and a Classification Advisor is required before any staffing action can be done to assess risks and determine the actions required prior to the staffing activity.
  • No staffing action can take place if the frozen position is identified as Workforce Adjustment. If that's the case, you must select a different position number.

Next steps:

To unfreeze a position, submit a request in the HRSC portal by using the General HR Enquiry Form, and include the following information in the description box:

  • Position number;
  • Effective date;
  • Justification explaining why the position needs to be unfrozen.
