Classification Bulletin July 1st to Sept. 30th, 2018
A few words from the Director:
Since my arrival in August, I have to say that I have been welcomed and supported by a great team. Although, just living yet another change in management, the ODCCE team has been very supportive and open in sharing everything about the department, the structural models and the size of ESDC. I feel privileged to be able to work with you who know so much more about this department than me. The classification community is like a small knitted family and as we bring on classification trainees and see them grow through the development and implementation of the developmental program, this family will grow into even more accredited classification advisors so that *la Releve* can be established.
It is with great pleasure that i have joined this remarkable team and that we are embarking on a journey through various conversions, digitalisation of our files, telework and data clean-up of vacant positions while building a strong working relationship. Thank you for your daily support.

For application guidelines attached to a structural model developed by HR, it is important to assess if the classification standard allows for a modification to the self- imposed application. The application guidelines are not set in stone. This does not apply to the BMS model.
SDA, content grievance classification committee scheduled for October 23rd and the Passport officer, PM-01, classification committee is scheduled for the week of October 29th
IT mapping towards TBS CS generics is at our doorsteps, phase I will be implemented in December 2018, for the straightforward ones, after which Phase II will begin, where job descriptions may have to be written.
TBS monitoring exercise is due to come out sometime end of November or beginning of December, its focus will be put on classification capacity within each department and how classification actions are handled and by whom (i.e: assessment of fast track classification).
The org charts have been produced and printed for the department as a whole; they will be produced every six months and put on the shared drive.
We are looking to implement fast track classification for February 2019. This will include: abolishment of positions, creation of clone positions (adding of a position because of volume), change of tenure and change of official language profile (to come).
Administrative team:
We have completed another PeopleSoft clean-up to ensure data integrity in the system that includes:
- Update of vacant frozen, term expired & WFA positions
- Abolish vacant position over 3 years
We have abolished 2210 vacant positions; we are now at 29% rather than 34% department wide.
